As it is common knowledge now that Indian tennis star Sania Mirza is engaged to Pakistani cricket star Shoaib Malik. We hope that fundamentalist Hindu parties allow Shoaib to play in India as he will become India’s Damad. We also hope that Sania enjoys wearing Burqa and total abandonment of tennis as Pakistani girls usually don’t play tennis in such short skirts. It is great how two sports stars from two rival countries are tying the knot. Let’s wish them a happy prosperous life and pray for peace between the two countries as well.

I personally think that these would be great advertisements and they will further shape up Sania’s celebrity status. While Sania would continue telling media that I am more concerned and focused on my tennis career but yes I don’t mind doing television ads that portray a certain type of image.

You must be thinking that either Sabeen is into girls or she is just trying to cash out the popularity of Sania Mirza by writing so much about the Indian tennis star. I am not into girls neither I am trying to cash out Sania’s popularity but yes I am getting a little bit crazy about her and it is not my fault. Sania is so sexy, so charasmatic and so talented that it is hard not to write about her.

This post is about Sania’s pictures and the obsessiveness of Indian bloggers, webmasters and web surfers. Try a simple google query for Sania Mirza pictures and there are currently two hundered and ninety thousand web results. Click on image results and you will find 5370 results.

Some of these websites are actually quite a mess and they use illusive titles for their webpages to grab more male visitors and a higher google pagerank. At the time when I searched 101lifestyle.com was at number 3 in results for my query and they had this title ‘Sania Mirza , Sania Mirza Pics, Of, Non Nude, Non Naked, Pictures’. Look closely and you will see words ‘Non Nude’ and ‘Non Naked’ in the title. Though they have made it clear that they do not have nude pictures or naked pictures of Sania Mirza but the space between Non and Nude or Non and Naked is intentional. The purpose is to attract visitors who wouldn’t pay much intention on word Non.

Many other websites, fan-sites and tribute pages extensively use word “Pictures” in their titles. Using each and every possible alternative to word pictures. On my results page the top most page is from silchar.com and it uses the title “Sania Mirza pics pictures photos images”. They only have two thumbnail size and one medium size images of Sania with lots of links to other pages on silchar.

I have a question for these self claimed search engine optimizers, why would people click on their pages if Google is directly showing them glimpse of the image results on the top of the web results? Wouldn’t people go there and find what they were really looking for?

She is only 19 years old and has achieved enormous success in tennis. Her popularity has made tennis a popular sports in India. The teenager had made tennis a game of the masses. Since her stunning success, the kids’ academies across the country registered a sharp rise in enrolments, particularly among girl children. As real life incidents go, an auto driver in Delhi requested for passes to enter the R K Khanna stadium after noticing a giant cut-out of Sania when she came to play an exhibition match towards the year end.

That mass adulation is reserved for the Tendulkars and the Dravids. But alongwith fame came public scrutiny. An Islamic cleric issued a fatwa banning her from wearing short skirts on courts. Her comments on safe sex resulted in public activist groups burning her effigies and demonstrating in front of her house in Hyderabad.

Looking at the main page of Yahoo! India, I found Yahoo’s search buzz log which revealed interesting information about what interests an average Indian web surfer. The top most search term is Sania Mirza and there is no doubt about it that Sania is very much in the news these days. I have made a post about her latest sensational controversy here. The second most searched for term is for the hottest masala girl Bipasha Basu. At number three and four, Indians searched for AIDS info and Super Series 2005 respectively. The fifth most popular search item, and the third most searched for personality is Saif Ali Khan.

Sania Mirza has denied that she favoured pre-marital sex. Sania Mirza, a talented and young Indian tennis star has become a teen idol in India. First she had been criticized by Indian Muslim scholars for wearing inappropriate clothes during matches. A Muslim cleric from Kolkata reportedly issued a fatwa in relation to the western-style sportswear she adopts on the tennis court. The cleric was reported as saying that the sportswear Sania adopts makes all her body parts visible and it is like Sania is playing nearly naked.
