Katrina Kaif who was rumored to be manhandled by boyfriend Salman Khan has denied that any such thing ever happened. However people bought the news already and Salman’s previous reputation makes him appear as the guy who beats his girlfriends. Well usually Salman beats his girlfriends when they are about to leave him for greener grasses. So if there is any truth in the rumor then Katrina is either sky rocketing towards the new peaks or packing back to London (or where ever she came from). However, chances are that Katrina’s career is going to climb new heights, after all she was most successful lead actoress last year. Even though she did nothing more than giggling and jumping in these movies but well she is pretty what else you can ask for?

In a recent interview with the Business Of Cinema Katrina told about signing a three movie contract with Studio 18. She also talked about how her new changed image in Bollywood and said she feels that people are now showing her more acceptance. She also revealed that she has nearly doubled her prices. It is also reported that Katrina will appear in Kabir Khan’s next movie which is produced by Yash Raj Films.

I was not able to find out any news of her getting married to Salman Khan. It seems just like we talked in a previous post that Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif are very much a fake couple, they are more fake than the most fake couple of the industry, that is Kareena and Saif. Definitely Katrina has just begun her career and she sees no reason whatsoever to change her career plans to meet Salman Khan’s desperate desire to settle down. Is she going to break our hunky Salman Khan’s heart? Well yes and no. Yes she is going to leave Salman Khan very soon and no she does not have Salman’s heart she was just playing along to help Salman improve his image in media after the so called illegal hunting controversy. He also needed a girlfriend that is presentable to media at the time when his ex girlfriend Aishwarya Rai was getting married to the Bachchan and entire world was talking about this wedding and how Aishwarya ditched Salman Khan.

Bollywood is really progressing now. No one can rule over the box office with only good looks. One needs extra ordinary acting and dancing skills with lots of charisma to keep with the competitors.

I was disappointed to see two young actors debuting with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s mega budget movie, Saawariya. Their only claim to fame was that their fathers were super stars of Indian cinema. I thought that being a multi million dollar industry, investors in Bollywood should learn to invest their money on really talented people. I was wrong, how could I say that these two youngsters were not talented with out seeing the movie. When I saw the movie, I realized that the two new comers Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor are brilliant actors.

To be very honest Ranbir Kapoor is an ordinary looking guy with extra ordinary charms on his hand. He acted so well that I finished the movie despite the crappy script, annoying dialogues and heavy-on-eye sets. I loved the song Jab say teray Naina. It is the song where Ranbir is wrapped in a Towel and showing his beautiful, youthful and admirable body. We have seen enough of Salman’s shirtless body. Shahrukh’s abs in Om Shanti Om were sensational too. But these guys are old and they do not excite us the way Ranbir did.

Sonam Kapoor is definitely not as pretty as Om Shanti Om’s Deepika. But she is definitely a much more talented actoress. Bhansali failed to dress her up properly, he also failed to offer her some classy dance number, but he managed to show the innocence and beauty of the character. It was hard to believe that this Sonam’s first movie. She delivered her lines confidently and succeeded to fill colors in her role.

I am not saying that Saawariya is a great movie. It is neither great nor good. In fact it is Bhansali’s failed attempt to mixing up art and commercial cinema. But you can not deny the fact that Bhansali made it look beautiful. Ranbir and Sonam were the best choice. Rani Mukherjee gave a mindblowing performance as Gulab ji. But there were also many weak points. For example Salman’s mysterious character wasn’t presented properly. Dialogues were not well written, there were several holes in the script. The sets were great to portray the fictious city but the blue and green scenery became too heavy on eyes after the first hour of the movie. The role of Ranbir Raj’s grandmother Zohra Sehgal resembled a lot like Anari’s Mrs. D’sza played by Lalita Pawar.

Bhansali should realize that not all great stories meant to be filmed and converted to Hindi Cinema. There must be some really great writers with really great and untold stories available in the market. It would be great if for once Bhansali gives us a story that is not told before. He should stop mimmicking the great canvases of legendary stories with his artistic touch. Instead, it would be truly great if he shows us his work with his own canvas and his own true colors.

Salman Khan is so hot that even religious clerics can’t resist his hotness and popularity. Muslim Clerics of Darul Ifta has issued a fatwa against Salman Khan for attending Ganesh Puja (A Hindu Festival where people gather to worship Ganesh). The Muftis told media that Islam strictly forbids all kind of idol worship and by attending such a worship. Committing this crime Salman Khan is no more a Muslim. In order to regain his faith again Salman Khan must recite the Kalma in front of an Imam (the mosque leader) and two Muslim witnesses.

Being a Muslim I have no doubt about the Fatwa. The Tauheed (believing that there is no God but Allah) is the most important aspect of being a Muslim. This is the most fundamental principle of Islam. By showing any gratitude towards any false God we commit the sin of Shirk (making false gods who share Allah’s powers). So there is no doubt about the authenticity of the Fatwa.

But the question is, did Salman really took part in the worship or he was just there to attend a festival to make his millions of Hindu fans happy. If he was there only to attend the festival and not to worship, and his motive was to spread the religious harmony and brotherhood among different religious communities. Then he does not need any fatwa and does not need to get back to Islam. But only Salman knows what was in his heart when he was attending the festival.

About Fatwas, Islamic scholars do not issue a fatwa to harm a person’s popularity or things like that. In order to issue Fatwa they need someone who files a question. The guidance seeker provides them the information and based on the given information they issue their fatwa. For example some person shows them the pictures of some actress and asks them what does Islam says about this actress wearing this kind of clothes. Or someone shows them press statement of some person and asks them what Islam has to say about this. So the Fatwa is basically a general ruling and it is not targetted towards some specific person. It just explains things according to principles of Islam. I think this is what the religious clerics did in Salman’s case. They were told about Salman Khan attending Ganesh Pooja and they simply told that attending any worship of any false gods makes a person Murtid (the one who denies the basic faith) and in order regain his/her faith the person needs to recite the Kalma again in front of two Muslim witnesses.

The media loves to spice up things and they make it a Fatwa against Salman Khan. It is a fatwa against Salman Khan but it was not issued to pin point Salman Khan, it only explains basic principles of Islam. But since the questionnaire asked specifically about Salman Khan thats why it seems like a fatwa against Salman Khan. The Ulemas would have said the same thing even if it was not about Salman Khan.

There were rumors in media when Salman Khan spent three days in the jail last time and the girlfriend Katrina Kaif didn’t cancel her filming schedule. But this time, Katrina decided to leave no room for rumors and visited Salman Khan in the jail. Accompanied by Salman Khan’s sister Alvira and brother Arbaaz Khan. Unlike all ex girlfriends of Salman, Katrina has proved that she is closer to Salman’s family. Katrina’s visit has once again sparked gossips that she and Salman are going to get married. Even though Katrina and Salman’s family didn’t give any comments to media about their visit. But it was noticed that Katrina was looking sad, she was wearing a white kurta with jeans.

Salman Khan was jailed for hunting down an endangered Chinkara deer in the forests of Rajhistan. Salman Khan has had some serious legal troubles during last ten years. On September 28, 2002 he was arrested for rash and negligent driving. He was under the influence of alcohol and his car veered onto a sidewalk outside a bakery in Mumbai. One person who was sleeping on the sidewalk died and three others were injured. Charges of culpable homicide were laid against him, but later dropped. However, some legal action in this case appears to be on-going. The Chinkara Hunting case begun in February 2006 when Salman Khan was sentenced to one year imprisonment. Since then Salman has appealed in several courts. Right now his lawyers are trying to get him released on bail.

While Salman is spending sleepless nights in jail the Indian public is debating about Salman being trapped in the case because he is a Muslim. This is a common practice in India where people try to paint things in religious, ethnic and caste system backgrounds. Some people try to get themselves political benefits while other just love to dive in to prove something or the other completely forgetting that the real people behind the issue are human beings with emotions of their own.

Partner is a fun to watch movie. It may not be as cool as ‘Mujh Se Shadi Karo gi’ but still it is a very typically David Dhawan movie. Salman Khan plays the role of Prem aka Love Guru. He helps men find the girls of their dreams and teaches them the style and tips to win the hearts of their dream girls. Govinda is an ordinary man who is insanely in love with his boss Katrina Kaif. Govinda seeks Salman’s help to win the love of Katrina but Salman thinks that Govinda is so hopeless that it is impossible for him to get the attention of a girl who owns a thousand crore rupee business. While Salman is helping Govinda finding love, he himself falls in love with Lara Dutta, a journalist who writes a gossip column in a local tabloid.

The movie is non-stop comedy and it would make you laugh out loudly. Salman Khan and Govinda make an excellent couple and they reminded me of Tara Sitara from Ek or Ek Gayarah one of the best David Dhavan movies. Forgive me, may be this review would sound too positive but I can not help myself. I just love David Dhavan movies and with the always eager to go shirtless Salman Khan, the very ordinarily extra ordinary comedian Govinda, the beauties like Laura Datta and Katrina Kaif you have no choice but to love the movie.

Songs of Partner
The songs of Partner are fun, lively and joyful. Just like the movie, the soundtrack has a naughty tone to it. Composed by Sajid-Wajid, these tunes are catchy, dancy, bollywoodish jhatka matka songs. David Dhavan is not only famous for his comedy movies but he is also famous for giving them a well balanced and joyfully choreographed songs. He has a style and every one can notice that from the lal dupatta of Aankhein to the Dupatta ‘ Tera Nau Rang Da’ of Partner David has travelled a big journey without changing his style. The beats are changed but you still sense the comic appeal of these songs.

However the music is not as impressive as in ‘Mujh se Shadi karo gi’ but still the songs are fun to listen. Maria Maria, Soni De Nakhre and you are my love. All these songs are targetted towards masses the same typical crowd that worships David Dhavan’s laughter marathons.

Katrina Kaif in Partner

She is beautiful. You know that she is not a great actress but she is so pretty and innocent that you are ready to accept her in the movie. Katrina’s role in Partner demanded no acting skills and it was easier for her to carry on the character with his same flat expression less face. Vikram Phadnis designed Katrina some very elegant dresses for the movie. With her incredibly good looks and charm she did wonderful job. Remember I previously posted some pictures of Katrina Kaif and we have also discussed her relationship with Salman Khan on this blog. Even though Katrina is not the love interest of Salman Khan in the movie but you can see the sparks whenever they are together in different scenes of the movie. I would desperately like to see Katrina and Salman together in a movie.

Film makers in Bollywood love to cast rivals together. In 1949, Director Mehboob presented Dilip Kumar and Raj Kapoor together in the movie Andaz. Both actors were the top heroes of the industry at that time and the movie created the ‘who is the best’ kind of hype. The film was recieved well by the audiences. But considering Mehboob’s casting options at that time I don’t think that this casting scenario was entirely designed to took advantage of the rivalry. In fact Mehboob didn’t have much choice. he needed a triangle and Raj Kapoor, Dilip Kumar and Nargis were the best actors to do the job.

In 1982 Amitabh was the acclaimed angry young man and he was then signed up to face Dilip Kumar in the movie Shakti. Even though Dilip Kumar was playing the role of his father but fans and media expected the movie like it is a contest between two giants. And it was, Shakti was a story of a broken relationship between a father and his son. There were intense dialogs, emotionally charged scenes, tears and lots of drama just to make sure that audience get what they wanted from the movie. Shakti wasn’t major blockbuster but Dilip Kumar won filmfare for his role in the movie. This was the last time Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan appeared together in a movie.

In 1991, Rajkumar Santoshi signed Aamir Khan and Salman Khan together for his movie Andaz Apna Apna. Santoshi made a right decission with a hillarious script and wonderful timing. At that time Aamir and Salman were the heartbeat of the youth and the movie created much pre-release press hype. Unfortunately, it took Santoshi three years to complete the movie. By that time the media and the fans lost interest in discussing who is best. Movie didn’t perform well at the box office. But it has its own cult following and is one of the best comedy movies ever (My own opinion).

Even the Shahrukh-Amitabh setting has been tried before. They have worked together in Aditya Chopra’s Mohabbatein (2000) and Karan Johar’s Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001). Both movies did well at the box office. So it seems like Shahrukh Amitabh rivalry is profitable for film-makers.

Shahrukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan are once again going to appear together in the movie ‘Bhootnaath’. This came out when we have already consumed an over-dose of news about the growing tensions and rivalry between the two stars. The rivalry sparked by media is now going to help with the promotion of the new movie.

While looking at the Mohabbatein page on Wikipedia I found this interesting bit:

On January 9th 2007’s episode of The Colbert Report, during the “We the Mediator” segment. Stephen Colbert mentions the New Year’s feud between Khan and Bachchan. By botching the names of the other stars who arrived at Bachchan’s party, he decided to judge the winner by viewing clips from Mohabbatein (he pronounced as “Mohabah-tee-yahn”)and from Khan’s dancing to Bachachan’s angry look clips, the undisputed winner was Khan. Stephen Colbert described Khan as “Dilip Kumar” to Bachchan’s “Raj Kapoor.”

History repeats itself and Bollywood loves repetition.

This week we received some interesting questions. We are surprised to find out how accurately Google helped people find the answers of these questions.

This week’s most interesting question was “How many times Aishwarya Rai been married?”

We answered this question in our post titled “Aishwarya Rai - Bride of Trees“. Aishwarya Rai who is now married to Abhishek Bachchan has previously married trees to get rid of the mangalik curse.

Another question related to Aishwarya Rai and Vivek Oberoi and why the broke up. We tried to answer this question in Aishwarya Rai’s biography here at Desi Galaxy. Actually Aishwarya was never in love or a relationship with Vivek, however Vivek often expressed his love for Aishwarya. But the truth is that they never had anything beyond casual friendship.

About Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif’s wedding, well its not going to happen. Not atleast this month or in near future.
