If you haven’t read it or heard about it yet then let me be the first one to tell you that Aishwarya Rai is not the only Bollywood Actress at the Cannes Film festival this year. Deepika Padukone is also there. Last week I rambled about Deepika Padukone’s rivalry with Priyanka Chopra, but apparantely Priyanka is not the only Bollywood actress facing competition from Deepika. It seems like beautiful failure Deepika is now taking on Aishwarya Rai too by stealing Aishwarya’s foreign crowd.

Indian media got really excited when Deepika Padukone appeared on the red carpet wearing an Indian outfit, the ever green Saree. Deepika surely knew that Aishwarya Rai would appear in a Western outfit so she decided to steal the crowd by acting like the “Real Indian Beauty” at the Cannes. I think they both look same Aishwarya and Deepika, they both have extremely huge eyes, similar nose and facial structure. But Deepika thinks she can take on Aishwarya Rai’s place by giving a more youthful and more ethnically dressed up Indian presentation.

I think movie stars and the entertainment industry is based on glamour, I didn’t know that the ethnic traditions can now get you noticed too. Deepika is seriously mistaken; those Westerners would actually feel that she is not one of them. She is an actress so she should act like one and dress for the occasion not for national pride. But then on the other hand Deepika is a smart girl, she knows what she is doing. So may be Deepika is not looking for foreign films, maybe she is trying to get more attention from Indian media so that she remains in lime light for a few more days. The news that Deeps patched up with her ex-boyfriend died out really fast. So she decided to get back on the news prime time by using national pride and Saree.

Aishwarya Rai will be wearing a Saree too, it’s just that she didn’t wear the Saree at the red carpet she saved it for the press conference she is going to attend while representing the movie Raavan. I think that’s a more appropriate location to wear a Saree. Deepika surely needs to learn a lot yet.

If you ask me I would say Deepika Padukone is a silly unprofessional actress who is trying to stay in the industry on the basis of her relationships status with various male celebrities and by signing movies with big banners. Deepika Padukone was brought to the hindi film industry by Farah Khan and Shahrukh Khan in their Dard e Disco movie (I can’t even recall the name of that movie). Since then she hasn’t given a single blockbuster or super hit movie.

She first led the media to believe that there is a relationship thing going on between her and Indian Cricketer Mahinder Singh Dhoni, later on she was linked with Yuvraj singh, and then Ranbir Kapoor. Deepika’s relationship with Ranbir Kapoor was the only time she herself and her boyfriend admitted that they are seeing each other. But then she broke up with him and now the news is that Ranbir and Deepika has patched things up. Come on girl, give us a break.

On the other hand she is demanding that the industry should give her the same respect and money that they are offering other bollywood actresses. Particularly Priyanka Chopra. Now I believe that Priyanka Chopra is one of the few talented bollywood actresses and Deepika is no where closer to her in terms of performance and acting skills. What made Deepika so jealous of Priyanka?

Well apparantely while her boyfriend Ranbir was on a break from their phony relationship, he got attracted to Priyanka Chopra. It was reported in the media that the two stars were seen at fancy restaurants together. Ranbir Kapoor openly said that he would very much love to work with Priyanka Chopra as he believes that Priyanka is one of the most talented actresses in Bollywood today. If this was not enough, Deepika’s ex co-star from her super flop movie Chandni Chowk To China, Akshay Kumar also expressed his desire to work with Priyanka Chopra again.

Recently when Deepika was offered a role in Anurag Basu’s upcoming film with Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra, she demanded that she should be paid the same amount of money as Priyanka Chopra. Even though her role is a smaller one and Priyanka Chopra is the lead actress, Deepika refused Anurag’s request to reconsider her decission. Anurag is still hopeful, but let me tell you guys, Deepika would never accept the offer even if she is paid the same amount. Because she knows Priyanka will completely overshadow her.

Shahid Kapoor is everywhere once again and this time Kareena is not the reason. I have always believed that he is a really talented actor. With his cute boy nextdoor charm, brilliant acting skills and his beautifully sculpted body he is going to rule the Hindi cinema. I am really impressed by his performance in ‘Kaminey’. Reviewers and critics has praised Kaminey for brilliant direction from Vishal Bhardwaj but I think that without the perfection and the charm that Shahid brought to the characters it was not possible for Bhardwaj to do this movie. In CNN-IBN’s movie review for Kaminey, Rajeev Masand writes: “Shahid Kapur rises to the challenge of creating two entirely different characters out of Charlie and Guddu, and delivers a credible performance as each.”

Kaminey is not the only wonderful thing that Shahid brought us. We are also thankful for his new look. I lack the words to describe it, its macho with boyish cute looks and its just so wonderful. You love him shirtless but you can’t stop loving him when he is fully dressed. Even though gone are the days when we had heroes that were not able to dance (Sunny Deol, Jackie Sheroff or Dharmendra), but Shahid dances so well sometimes even better than Hrithik Roshan. No offense to Hrithik fans but he is like the Greek God that we all could only dream of but Shahid is something that looks ordinarily beautiful.

This year has been very good for Shahid so far. Even his love life is shifting gears. It is rumored that Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra are seeing eachother. Officially neither Shahid nor Priyanka has confirmed it yet. But Shahid’s father Pankaj Kapoor has signed Priyanka with Shahid in his upcoming movie. So it would be a family production.Just like Shahid, I feel that Priyanka also belongs to the lot of the under-appreciated young talents of Hindi film industry. Its good that the two get together as we hope to see some great performances from both of them in the future.

Dostana - Abhishek Bachchan John Abraham and Priyanka

John Abraham, Priyanka Chopra and Abhishek Bachan’s Dostana is truly a comedy movie, which turns everything into laughter it touches, even the sensitive issue of homosexuality. It has been a success but not as big as Karan had expected it to be. Karan Johar has claimed that Dostana will be the last “Karan Johar Typical” movie. Karan is trying to re-invent himself as a producer and director with movies like ‘My Name is Khan’ and ‘Wake up Sid’.

Dostana is a bollywood ripoff movie of “I now pronounce Chuck and Larry” and “Two to Tango”. It was a good concept, no doubt about that but gives a misconception to the whole concept of being gay. It’s being gay not acting gay.

We understand that our caring Karan did not want to project anything like that but it’s what the community (gay community) conceives. Surprisingly, critics had nothing to say but to praise the new direction of Karan Johar. Even some of the gay activists enjoyed the fact that John Abraham and Abishek Bachan played gay characters in the film, but that is only a small detail of the picture. The whole picture was blunt truth expressed by a Delhi based fashion designer Gaurav Gupta, who has always sympathized with homosexual causes. “It is encouraging that for the first time the theme is a part of a mainstream Hindi movie but I fear it hasn’t been dealt with in a positive way. It’s evident from the film’s trailer that homosexuality is nothing more than a joke in the film,” said Gupta. Common man watches a movie and thinks of it as reality after coming out of the cinema unlike the elite class who looks for a hidden message in the film. Of course one can not claim that India’s majority is the elite class now, can we? Therefore, in my opinion movies are supposed to have an upfront message not a hidden one.

Dharma production claims that the message was to the parents considering the scene where Kiran Kher barges into the apartment when she finds out that her son might be gay and surprisingly supports him. Being in a common man’s shoes I say it was just another comedy scene for me. On the whole the movie is a comedy paradise and so is the word ‘gay’. It really does not offend the gay community but alas the whole world ends up laughing on gays.

Of course, caring Karan had to say something in defense. “This is just a baby step to Brokeback Mountain,” says Karan. Well, if this is your baby step then we all can figure out that its centuries before a brokeback mountain coming from you Karan. The movie is yet another platform to provide comic kicks on the sensitive issue of homosexuality and thus does not create any liberalism towards homosexuality.

If I had to watch Bruce Almighty in Hindi I would have bought the dubbed Hindi DVD of the original movie. It is such an insult to audience of Indian films to show them a cheap copy of a popular and recent Hollywood movie. I am all willing to see “inspired from hollywood” material if it is well made and properly presented. Even though ‘God Tusi Great Ho‘ has some moments of charm but thats only because of the talented and the most experienced actors of the film industry that were casted into badly sketched roles. Salman Khan looked a 44 year old uncle trying to act juvenile it was a pathetic and shameless display of attempts on being funny. Priyanka Chopra was just looking good which is all she needs to stay in the business. Amitabh Bachchan, well now he is the icon of the Indian Film Industry but I think he should really retire now or at least save his enegies for world tours and advertisements. His attempts on acting God, were pathetic and it was too obvious that he wasn’t even half heartedly interested in the role he was playing.

Written and directed by Rumi Jaffery, the man credited with writing some of David Dhawan’s most entertaining films—Coolie No 1, Hero No 1 and Judwaa—God Tussi Great Ho is ultimately a colossal bore.

Although these two dinosaurs Salman Khan and Amitabh Bachchan have been around in Bollywood for a gazillion years, yet their performance in God Tussi Great Ho is not even a millionth as good as that of Jim Carrey and Morgan Freeman in Bruce Almighty.

Instead the rehash is as loud as its interior decoration, as uncool as Salman Khan’s wardrobe, as ugly as Priyanka Chopra’s nose-ring, and as brain-dead as Sohail Khan’s performance.

Priyanka Chopra is going to sing an ad jingle. Unlike some other actresses it is said that Priyanka has real talent for singing. You may have seen her singing live at KBC with Shahrukh Khan.

Shobha De, talks about scandals, sex and Bollywood

Kareena has refused a film with Abhishek Bachchan. She said she wont feel comfortable working with him. How so unprofessional. But this similar not so professional attitude and flame war was actually initiated by Abhishek Bachchan who refused to work with Kareena in a Karan Johar production (many actors in the industry would do any thing to get one such movie). If I were Kareena I might have told Abhishek that he is a lousy actor and that who needs Abhishek when we have Karan in our pocket?

Priyanka said recently that sensuality lies in the eyes of a woman not in her clothes. I agree 100% with Priyanka, but unfortunately men don’t really get this. They would love to see Priyanka in Bikini rather than Priyanka in veil or burqa. Being a professional model and actress Priyanka knows that and this is why she wanted to look like classic Indian sex bomb Zeenat Aman while doing photoshoot for Maxim magazine. For all the men who look at clothes and other body parts to find sensuality I have some picture of Priyanka Chopra:

Rediff has a slideshow of Bollywood’s sexiest Heroines. Obviously it begins with the picture of Mallika Sherawat‘s item number from Guru. It seems Mallika completes the day at the Rediff headquarters. Just look around and you will notice that there is Mallika even when there is nothing to talk about her kissing scenes or sexy dance numbers.

Late Nusrat Fatah Ali Khan’s nephew, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan performed at Siri Fort Auditorium in New Delhi on Saturday. Sonia Gandhi, her son Rahul Gandhi, daughter Priyanka, mother Paola Maino, and son-in-law Robert Vadra were among the VVIPs who attended the concert. Times of India reached him and asked him about music, Cricket and Aishwarya Rai.

Priyanka recently gifted a T-shirt to her kid brother, this tshirt is really precious. It has signatures of the entire Indian cricket team. The story doesn’t tell that Priyanka used star power to get the shirt signed. I was thinking why she didn’t get the signatures of the cricket team when she was working with them in the movie ‘Mujh se shadi karo gi’.

Sandeep Hattangadi on Cybernoon asks, “Will TV give us another Shahrukh Khan?“. My answer is yes, there are many talented actors working on television and some of them need an average, balanced in masala items, and two-hit-songs-packed-inside movie to start their Bollywood Journey. It just doesn’t end here they need such films for sometime before they become able to get the movies they want.

Subhash K. Jha, reports that Karan Johar is planning to record a show with the Bachchans and Aishwarya. Karan is a very optimistic person and I agree with Subhash that the guest list is getting ambitious every day. Koffee mayn dam nahi bomb hai!
