Dostana - Abhishek Bachchan John Abraham and Priyanka

John Abraham, Priyanka Chopra and Abhishek Bachan’s Dostana is truly a comedy movie, which turns everything into laughter it touches, even the sensitive issue of homosexuality. It has been a success but not as big as Karan had expected it to be. Karan Johar has claimed that Dostana will be the last “Karan Johar Typical” movie. Karan is trying to re-invent himself as a producer and director with movies like ‘My Name is Khan’ and ‘Wake up Sid’.

Dostana is a bollywood ripoff movie of “I now pronounce Chuck and Larry” and “Two to Tango”. It was a good concept, no doubt about that but gives a misconception to the whole concept of being gay. It’s being gay not acting gay.

We understand that our caring Karan did not want to project anything like that but it’s what the community (gay community) conceives. Surprisingly, critics had nothing to say but to praise the new direction of Karan Johar. Even some of the gay activists enjoyed the fact that John Abraham and Abishek Bachan played gay characters in the film, but that is only a small detail of the picture. The whole picture was blunt truth expressed by a Delhi based fashion designer Gaurav Gupta, who has always sympathized with homosexual causes. “It is encouraging that for the first time the theme is a part of a mainstream Hindi movie but I fear it hasn’t been dealt with in a positive way. It’s evident from the film’s trailer that homosexuality is nothing more than a joke in the film,” said Gupta. Common man watches a movie and thinks of it as reality after coming out of the cinema unlike the elite class who looks for a hidden message in the film. Of course one can not claim that India’s majority is the elite class now, can we? Therefore, in my opinion movies are supposed to have an upfront message not a hidden one.

Dharma production claims that the message was to the parents considering the scene where Kiran Kher barges into the apartment when she finds out that her son might be gay and surprisingly supports him. Being in a common man’s shoes I say it was just another comedy scene for me. On the whole the movie is a comedy paradise and so is the word ‘gay’. It really does not offend the gay community but alas the whole world ends up laughing on gays.

Of course, caring Karan had to say something in defense. “This is just a baby step to Brokeback Mountain,” says Karan. Well, if this is your baby step then we all can figure out that its centuries before a brokeback mountain coming from you Karan. The movie is yet another platform to provide comic kicks on the sensitive issue of homosexuality and thus does not create any liberalism towards homosexuality.

In response to Zee network’s desire to create their own sporting content by organizing Indian Cricket League, BCCI decided to organize their own Indian Premier League.

The King of Indian Film Industry Shahrukh Khan decided to sponsor Kolkatta’s team which has resulted into termendous media response for Indian Premier League. Soon Priety Zinta with her boyfriend Ness Wadia joined the league as sponsor of Mohali. Reliance Industries’ Mukesh Ambani is sponsoring Mumbai’s team with the highest bid of 111.9 Million US Dollars.

This was quite enough for creating magnificent market buzz and spark interest among cricket crazy Indians. But then there was a bidding by sponsors to select players for their teams. Chennai made a bid of 1,500,000 US Dollars for India’s star cricketer Mahinder Singh Dhoni. Australia’s Andrew Symonds is part of Hyderabad’s team with the bidding amount of 1,350,000 US Dollars. Irfan Pathan and Yuvraj singh will be playing for Priety Zinta’s Mohali Team.

The groups investing huge amounts in the league’s cricketing event surely recognize the event as a great opportunity for them. Not to mention that the higher stakes involved in the process mean great mind blowing battles between the teams.

Cast of the movie includes Amitabh Bachchan, Seema Biswas, Terence Stamp and John Abrahim.

John has also signed a Percept Picture Company’s movie titled Aashayein, story of a gambler Rahul, who discovers new meanings of fortune, fate and life through a dramatic turn of events.

There is no doubt that I have an interest in the pictures of shirtless bollywood actors, male celebrities, indian fashion models, etc. I have talked about these hot guys before and I will continue to do so. John Abraham attended the Oscar, it was definitely a big night for him and director Deepa Mehta as their movie ‘Water’ was nominated for the Oscar. But John’s big night was not the big night for Bipasha. She didn’t accompany John to the awards ceremony. When asked why she was not there on the red carpet with John, Bipasha replied:

People don’t seem to realise that my life is not entirely John-centric. We are two individuals with work commitments. Besides, it’s his time, his due and I wanted him to enjoy it on his own. It’s not my film, so why should I be there?

John Abraham said:

Bipasha is shooting in South Africa. I think the producer, director and cast of Water are required to be there for the Oscar night. So here I am with Seema Biswas, Lisa ray and the rest of the crew. Lucky Deepa. Her soul mate is also the film’s producer, and will best with her.

Fans of this hot and sexy bollywood couple would be able to see them together with another hot bollywood couple Hema-Dharmendra in Mahesh Manjrekar’s upcoming movie ‘Hum Aise Hi’. The chemistry between John and Bipasha worked great in Jism and there is no doubt that audience would like to see them together. But then again, as Bipasha puts it, they are two individuals with career commitments.

Kabul Express is a different kind of Hindi movie, but it is still an average movie. You can enjoy the movie only if you know a little bit about Afghanistan’s politics and the relationship between different Afghan groups and Pakistan.

John Abraham was the most mis fit part of the movie and his bad acting skills were a real annoyance in the movie. Arshad Warsi and rest of the gang did a good job but we the hindi audience need a hero that we can make the center of our attention. The center of attention in this movie was the character of the Pakistani Taliban, Imran. I disliked this movie so much that I don’t even feel like writing more about it. Ofcourse there are some people who enjoyed this movie, but not me.

John Abraham says he was nervous while acting with big bollywood stars in Baabul. He definitely needs such lame excuses for his bad acting skills? I guess not, John should not worry about his acting skills because at least I don’t care about how he acts. All I care about is his body so as long as he is not wearing clothes I am more than happy to watch him.

How big of a star Shahrukh Khan really is?

Shahrukh Khan wants to do KBC as Shahrukh Khan, he is smart and so are the people at Star TV. Why would any one like to see Shahrukh Khan trying to be Amitabh Bachchan? Giving the show a pure Shahrukh touch would make it more interesting and fun to watch.

Also Vishal-Shekhar’s names on the credits as composers further escalates the interest quotient due to their consistent delivery of movie soundtracks over the years.
