Hrithik Roshan has won Filmfare award for best actor 2008 for the movie Jodha Akbar. However, Aamir Khan’s fans are disappointed by jury’s decission. There was debate going on between Aamir Khan and Shahrukh Khan’s fans about who will win the award this year. But jury’s decission to pick up Hrithik Roshan has surprised many. I think that Hrithik deserved the award for his role as Akbar the great in Jodha Akbar, but even I am surprised. I didn’t thought that the judges will ignore the popular opinion and would instead pick up the better actor.
Aamir Khan’s performance in Ghajini is been lauded by critics and masses alike. I personally don’t think that it was an out standing performance. It was good but not amazingly well done. In fact when I saw Ghajini I was kind of surprised that how stereo typical Aamir acted in the movie. The stories of revenge, obsessive lovers and violence are nothing new to viewers. We have seen such roles before and even though Aamir peformed extremely good in his role still it was a story told many times before. Some people are also blaming Aamir’s attitude towards awards specially Filmfare. He once even sued Filmfare for using pictures for award ceremony promotions.
Shahrukh Khan’s Rab ne Bana di Jodi was a light romantic movie. King Khan surely knows how to charm the audiences but it was not the kind of role that people will never forget. It was good but not one of his best performances. He has previously acted much better than that for example in Paheli, Swades, Don, etc.
On the other hand Hrithik was playing a real person from the pages of history, Akbar The Great. This historic love epic provided him a great room and a much bigger canvas to perform. He had to work on his Urdu, to carry on the costumes, to be as impressive as people could imagine that Akbar was. It was a story that was never told before. Critics and masses were comparing his performance with that of Prithvi Raj Kapoor and Dilip Kumar in Mughal-e-Azam. He comes with his own memorable performance. From walking to sitting, from dialogue delivery to war scenes, he had to perform extremely great in every scene. I think he did justice to his character.
What is your opinion, please feel free to disagree. But I would love to hear what you think about Best Male Actor award for the 54th filmfare awards and who you think actually deserved the award.

Akbar is regarded as a great personality accross the globe but hrithik was completely unfit in that role.He should get award for his third class acting. Its really Pathetic to see such wrong distribution of Awards.I think this year amir or shahrukh deserved the award.Award is based on acting not on bribes.

I am completely agree with Filmfare yes Amir was very good in Ghajini also Shahrukh in RNBDJ but
what new nothing but this is very tough to chose the role like Akbar who has already played by
the lagend Prithvi Raj Kapoor with that much creativity Hrithik deserved this award & he won

i am not satisfied with this filmfare awards because how they given to hrithi roshan as a best actor award.it’s a crucial moment should be give it to aamir khan because of his terrible acting in GHAJINI.Filmfare award 2008 best actor slection is totaly wrong.

im really sorry for the people who say it should be aamir khan BUT aamir khan doesnt accept award so whats
the point of even nominating him i think if he doesnt want the awards then they shouldnt even nominate him
i think hritik was okay i find sharukh khan shouldve gotten the award cause he works so hard for his movies
and also he doesnt only do it for money he does it cause he likes it .. you should never do something if
your not interested in it i mean dont do it for money! shahrukh khan you rock
-your fan forever- ILOVEYOUUUUU SHAHRUKH !!!

The award should have gone to Aamir Khan, as he was fabulous in the film! Your post sounds biased. Aamir was phenomenal and it is only he who could do such a role with such excellence. Hrithik didn’t deserve the award as he didn’t suit the role of Akbar.
If Filmfare had to choose a “better actor” then they should have chosen Naseerudin Shah for A Wednesday. Hrithik is nowhere near Aamir, Naseer or SRK.

Hrithik is the best of the best actor in the entire boolywood, hello..indian people, Amir and srk u have to say “thank u 1000x so much” to Hrithik roshan. Just because of him your indian movie can exist and known by people in the world, he is very modern and no one like him, last time i don’t like so much indian movie, just talking about revenge without sense, mothers death, conservative dance and clothes, no style that i want to follow. BUT NOW,,, since i wacthed hrithik role in Kaho Na Pyar Hai, oh my God, so unprecedented, his face, dance, character, body, speech, everything, far far away from other actor in India. If hrithik was born in my country, i think my country will be famous in the world. So as long as hrithik play in movie, no doubt, he must be winner for each nominee for every year. if your country industry movie will survive. By the way, dont be jeolous, because God create him like that, i think he is muslim.. i do hope and i like him

I totally agree with your reivew. I have been fan of aamir khan and i think he is one of the
best actor and mine, the most favorite, but the performance of Hrithik for Akbar was totally outstanding.
When you watch movie you feel you are looking at such a regal person. You do not feel that you are
looking at performance but you feel you are looking at person the Akbar. Hrithik did not act he
lived Akbar and the most amazing thing is he did not do one step of dacing which he is famous for
but he captivated audiance none the less by his sheer performance. And his urdu accents..OMG just amazing..
To tell you the truth I have not seen Hrithik’s all the movies but after watching him in Jodha Akbar,
I had to get all his movies to see if he was really that good.
You rock Hrithik!!!! I am your fan for ever now
All the best in life. My trust and pray that you will as outstanding in all your performance
and capture the thron for long long time to come….

It seems like Shahrukh Khan usually bribe filmfare award, that’s why ended
up winning previous awards, i personally think that he cannot act, he overreacts
and does not give/or leave the impression that he is a versatile actor, he is one of the
worst actors. He continue to dominate the scenes because he is a good talker
he should quit, right now his career is not up there and plenty ppl are happy.
make more movies with actors like hritik roshan and amir khan and salman khan…

i told you guys, the best actor who can play the scene become amazing even the story is old, but if the the story of movie is good, whoever, no matter who’s the actor, the movie must be famous, for example Slum dog Millionare, the actor are not famous but the film is famous and got award. But you can see Hrithik Roshan, his acting so funtastic, he is so smart to proper his acting to the dialogue. Look at him JA, the way his sit, look, speech and his smile, not all actor can do like that. SRK his face can not be a king because his face is dreadful and he always force his face to be serious and unnatural.

Aamir deserves the best actor award. His acting in the film was great n even akshey didicated his award to aamir.

Hrithik roshan really deserver this award. he really worked hard for the Akbar’s role. his performance in Jodha Akbar movie was outstanding compare to amir khan in Gajini.
July 11th, 2009 at 2:36 pm
Yaah !! Hritik desrves this award !! I know amir is also well in GHJINI . But there is nothing new story in film… AND every body know that hritik is best actor in looks , hight , acting , dance , everything so I AM AGREE WITH IIFA..

Hritik is the best.Aamir had never done any film like koi mil gaya or kkrish or dhoom 2.Both amir andsrk do over acting only. And shahrukh had got awards only for his nautanki and aamir doesn’t wants any award
coz he thinks he is above all the critics. So there is only hritik able to this glorry. And one who
think others just think srk or aamir doing Akbar or a superhero like KKrish.

It has been keenly observed that in film fare awards most desrving persons are ignored & these
kind of awards are moving around few families for last couple of years which should b noticed

beta log gajine ne 300 crore se jyada ka business de diya hai,ab bhi kya aamir ko proof karna padega ki wo no -1 actor hai, aamir hamesha se best film deta aaya hai,but use hamesha ignore kar diya jata hai,usi ki film har bar aaskar man jati hai, phir bhi use ignore kiya jata hai, this is not good.

Radhe is absolutely correct. Just watch Hritik roshan, sometimes he is flying in air(Krish),
sometime Alien make him superman(Koi Mil Gaya). Actually speaking, Hritik Roshan makes films for
kids(fantasy based Movies). Hritik’s movies are so unrealistic, away from real life. Such movies
are only good to entertain uneducated people. Hritik roshan movies can never be a part of Classic cinema. Whereas
Amir khan movies are all Classic movies. Hritik roshan movies are way behind than Aamir khan’s
movies in all aspects, be it box office collection, be it acting, be it script. Aamir is the best actor bollywood
has ever witnessed. So SRK hritik and Amitabh fans, don’t be jeolous.

You couldn’t be more right about Hrithik Roshan. Amir is a good actor, but he doesn’t disappear into his characters as Hrithik does. Also, Ghajini was totally overacted, though good in parts. I like SRK personally, he’s very cute, funny and nice, and his movies are entertaining at time, but he is ALWAYS THE SAME. He is always SRK in every movie. The mark of a great actor is the ability to become the character. Hrithik’s looks, mannerisms, everything changes drastically from film to film. He is very different as Akbar than as Rohit (koi mil gaya) or Aryan (Dhoom:2). That is great acting!!! Now add in his ability to dance and charm every woman within a 5000 mile radius and you have a superstar.
