While my friend Addy is comparing Shahrukh Khan with Aamir Khan. I would like to spend sometime on comparing Shahrukh Khan with Akshay Kumar. You will find lots of people saying that Akshay has given many more hit movies than Shahrukh Khan during last few years. Unfortunately, these Akshay lovers are terribly wrong. Shahrukh Khan still rules the box office.
In 2007, Shahrukh Khan had two major releases. Chak de India and Om Shanti Om. Both did amazingly well on the box office. Shahrukh was praised for his role as “Kabir Khan” in Chak de India by critics. Critics didn’t like him much in Om Shanti Om but movie’s hype and better marketing techniques made it a blockbuster. 2007 was also the luckiest year in Akshay Kumar’s career. He had four hit movies back to back. Namastey London, Heyy Babyy, Bhool Bhulaiyaa and Welcome. What I don’t like about all these four movies is that Akshay never moved away from his Hera Pheri style. There was no change in his acting and character development was extremely poor. His character looked the same in all these four movies. There was no versatility and nothing new in his acting.
In 2008 two Akshay Kumar movies were released. Singh is King and Tashaan. Tashaan was a huge disappointment at box office. Singh is King did fairly well and it was the third highest grosser in Bollywood. However, Shahrukh Khan had only one movie as the major release in 2008. Rab ne Bana di Jodi which was the highest grosser movie of 2008. Akshay Kumar’s latest movie Chandni Chowk to China Town has caused distress to the film makers who has signed him at very high prices. Chandni Chowk to Chinatown went flat on box office and it seems like no one is yet ready to buy the rights for his upcoming movies. Rohini Bhandari at the Business of Cinema suggests that producers may need to re-evaluate Akshay Kumar’s upcoming movies.
If you take TV shows, advertising campaign and International tours to measure the market value and popularity of the stars then Shahrukh Khan clearly beats Akshay Kumar.
Honestly, I don’t really care about who is more popular. I love these kind of comparisons because I think such healthy rivalry improves the quality of Hindi Cinema. This race to be the no. 1. Bollywood star benefits the audiences. So I would say that we the audiences of Hindi movies should encourage such debates. By the way I dont think that Aamir, Shahrukh, Akshay or Salman could ever beat the charisma and stardom of Hrithik Roshan. Who is, in my opinion, the best male performer in Bollywood right now.

I think that no doubt there has been a fight of “who’s the best” in our film industry but in my opinion …Amitabh Bachaan is still the hot favorite of both the generations…His acting and dancing is the best…n his nature ..makes him even more popular…

My dear friend, I totally disagree with you that Shahrukh rules over Akshay. Akshay has got VARIETY, he DARES TO EXPERIMENT on his roles, directors, co-stars, looks and hates to play safe unlike Shahrukh who sticks to only couple of producers and plays a similar roles in all the movies and lacks variety. Yes, but his role in Rab ne bana di jodi is appreciable.
If you are critical about Akshay`s few flops, Lets not ignore Shahrukh films which bombed in the box office and were out n out flop like Koyla, Dil Se, trimurti, Raju ban gaya gentleman etc.
Also Akshay has been voted as the youth Icon unlike Shahrukh.

srk rules.he is the best.akshay is a good actor but he must stopp comedy movie and do like he did before .he is talentued and i think akki better than amir

Akshay is versatile? As I wrote above Akshay is not coming out of the Raju from Hera Pheri. He needs to realize Raju is not fit for all comedy movies.

I agree that SRK is far better than Akshay. SRK’s success is spread worldwide and is the best one to gather international publicity. Though Akshay has given some hits but it doesnt mean that he can rule the box office. Its only SRK who van rule the box office because ha is the best.

if the topic is who is the king of box office ill say its srk. but wat Noumaan said about akshay should be said about srk too. he is in his same ways of acting. he should stop doing da chocolate boy figure. i think he is just this famous because of all the girls who prolly in their teens thinks he is cute in movies and probably dosent know alot of acting.

okay askhey kumar sucks he thinks hes all that he always wanted an award and
then when he got one (im not sure wich award) but when he got one he goes well
i dont want this award cause i think aamir khan deserves it hes so STUPID.
i find sharukh is the best because he does every movie seriously and he doesnt
do it only for money he does it cause he wants to ..

i am still find there are seven conservative comments. they’re still talking about SRK,Amir,Akshay, even oh no…. how pity you are,, u still adore an actor such them. All what you want in Hrithik Roshan. now i know indian people never grow up or develope if always stay in india or watch movie like SRK,AMir,Akhsay,Abishek, you see kind of them always play in same role, stupid acting compare to american,or chinese action very far, but to make balance and show indian movie not all like them he is Hrithik Roshan, you can see his action in Krish, in Malaysia with chinese guest to safe his sister. he use sword very talented. and i still remember the scene of SRK or Amir, Akshay when they want to hit the face of enemy,,,,oh no,,, it was shamed before they hit an enemy, their hand going to other side very very clear didn’t touch his face, and his angry face very bad. abashing actors. i like Koyla movie not because an actor but because the story. why must be SRK face in there????”
So commentator, word easy but act hard, you said SRK or Amir or Akshay is the best actor but in fact no one of them UNLESS Hritik Roshan.

Why are we even having this discussion. Its pointless coz todays world beleives in stats/figurees. And if you go by figures you’d realize that Shahrukh is way way way way way above all the other actors in Bollywood !!!!forget Akshay….he does not even count in this league….apart from your stats i’ll give you a couple of more reasons why Sharukh outbeats the rest of his counterparts. And they are:
1) He’s become a Super duper star without a godfather.
2) He’s got more awards than any of his other counterparts.
3) His movies dont contain a stint of obsenity hence can be watched by an entire family.
4) He’s the best entrepranar in the business.
5) He has been loyal to his wife and has not got in lime light for wrong reasons.
6) He’s a Padmashree, a doctor and rightfully the Badshah of Bollywood.
7) He inspires people who have dreams and desires to make it big in life.
If I had some more time, these pointers would have gone on till infinity. But I guess this would suffice and if it does not then you guys can consider urselves as the dummest people on Planet Earth>>>>>>

my dear friends i need to tell you that akshay can do all roles like action,comedy and romance.no other actor in bollywood can be so versetile as akshay.so akshay is the best and real king of boxoffice and bollywood.

srk is the king of bollywood.we all know that srk is no.i and he rules the box office.no one is like baadshah khan.srk ke saamne akshay ka koi class hi nai hai.2 hit dene ke baad akshay apna compare baadshah ke saath karne laga aur dekh is saal apni aukat pe aa gaya.aur akshay ki koi movie agar chalti bhi hai to wo katrina ki wajha se.samjhe…………………………………

srk……yeak..i cant tolerate him even for 5 mins. i feel lik vomiting wenevr i see him. full of overacting. his acting is far from reality. all tht he does can nvr happn in reality. it looks lik fantasy..
Akshay….man he’s an entertainer. koi bhi movie utha lo akkie ki. u can nvr get bored. he has proved himself in different kind of roles. he is a versatile actor.
he does evrythin in gr8 style. his acting is close to reality. its exctly wat u require.nothin more or les..

Everyone has their own preference who they like or dont like watching but no one can say who is the king of bollywood as thats down to the box office figures!!!
those people who say akshay is the king of bollywood are clearly wrong but equally you can help him to become number one,.. HINT: if all you akshay lovers go out to your local cinemas and buy thousands of movie tickets for each of akshays release then you might bump up his figures a notch.. BUT WILL IT BE ENOUGH…???
askhay 3 films = 47 crore at box office…
srk 2 films = 59 crore at box office….
currently the way akshay is making movies will end up in people getting bored of him.. we are not in the 80′s or 90′s people nowadays Less is more!!
indian people are watching more hollywood movies now than ever before and understanding that actors like aamir and srk are now going to be making 1 to 2 films a year and thats what they have been doing in the recent years… but akshay the quite opposite knowing that he is trying to gain number one.. and he knows thats purely down to figures thats why he is making several films a year hoping his figures beat srk. Good luck to him, i hope he does get a taste of being number one in his career.. he’s earned it. I like both of them and dont care who’s number one.. but even if i did it will be an opinion not a fact.. facts only come from $$$ figures.

Both of them are great actors but if I have to make a preference, its SRK. I never knew of Akshay until three years ago(I’m being honest) but grew up watching SRK. Most of the people I know who watch Indian movies here in Nigeria will rout for SRK anyday anytime. As of this moment Hrithik Roshan is the best.

i would choose akshay over shah rukh. coz he is a far batter actor and dis agree with noumaan
bcozz akshay has shown versitelity in his rolls much more than srk. his acting was superb in namastey london, hey bebyy and bhool bhulaiyya which was not at all similar to raju frm hera pheri.
and how much versitality has shah rukh shown????
(80% of his films revolve btween raj(DDLJ) & rahul(DTPH) ).till date his best roll is in chak de india (that was VERSETILE).
people liked srk not bcoz of his acting but coz of his cute…….and the awards due to his popularity
akshay might not have won as many awards as srk. but he has excelled as an actor 1st film.
he gave away his award bcoz he was generous enough. do u think SRK would do the same???????
