Being Cyrus is a psychological thrillar with stars like Naseeruddin Shah, Dimple Kapadia, Boman Irani and Saif Ali Khan. Directed by Homi Adjania who is debuting with this movie and is well aware of the fact that Hindi cinema has almost always treated Parsis in comic light. This is also Saif Ali Khan’s first English movie and probably the first off beat movie too. Though Saif considers Salam Namaste as an off beat movie aswell but the off beatness was ignored due to the fact that it was produced by Yash Raj Films.

Being Cyrus is a story of a very bizarre chapter in the life of a Parsi guy, Cyrus (Saif Ali Khan). Cyrus lands up at the Sethna home in Panchgani, and lives with Sethnas for a year. He’s a drifter, and stays with them because he wants to learn how to sculpt. Naseer plays a retired sculptor. This movie pokes fun at the stereotypes surrounding Parsis that Hindi Cinema has portrayed for a long time. As the scriptwriter Sooni Taraporewala puts it:

“I think it’s a stupid sense of humour. Parsis have a good sense of humour, we can laugh at ourselves and so we just choose to shrug it off and not burn buildings down.”

This film has some twists. You would find funny things but you would be surprised that you found these things funny while they were really not funny. Saif Ali Khan, while talking to Hindustan Times told:

My character is a guy called Cyrus and he seems to have a deep interest in pottery - one who seems perfectly normal and quite charming, but is slightly intriguing and quite dangerous because of how innocuous he seems. Cyrus is an orphan who has learnt through experience and has a slightly unique take on life and isn’t as affected with things as other people are - almost existentialist in that way. He has grown through this life from outside, which is actually a line from the script.

Is the movie about relationships? Could we say it is a bold film? Being Cyrus is my first English film. It’s a quality film. It’s a bit of a thriller. It only took 20 of my shooting days and has been shot amazingly by cinematographer Jehengir Chowdhary. It should be evaluated in its own space. It is on relationships but it’s not just on Dimple (Kapadia) and me. It is a bold subject but not sleazy or a horror film.

Dimple Kapadia playing an important role as Katy in this movie had to gain extra weight for Being Cyrus. She says “It is not on complications in relationships. It is not on dysfunctional marriage either. How would I describe the film? I would say it has a lot of black humour in it.”

Boman Irani tells about his role:

I play a very crude and angry Parsee. I mean he is so angry that he fights with the neighbors, with the dogs, anyone he finds and he can fight with them. The age of this guy is between 48 and 50 and how he is just angry at the world. And yes, it’s a nice story about which I can’t say much because the minute I give you the outline you would start guessing. And it’s better not to guess but to see to really like the film.

A UTV motion picture, praised by Mid-Day as a good fresh feel compilation and complete entertainer. Starring, Nana Patekar and John Abraham. Taxi 9 2 1 1 is a story of two guys a taxi driver and a rich guy. One cab ride changes their lives.
Raghu (Nana Patekar) is an insurance sales person who also drives a taxi. Jai (John) is a rich guy who boards Raghu’s taxi. Jai is on his way to the court to claim money, which is rightfully his. It all begins with a simple cab journey. Unexpected things happen. There is adventure, humour and a superb climax. Directed by Milan Luthria and produced by Ramesh Sippy this movie is a fun filled package for every one. For a movie like this that boasts of a unique assemble of stars like Nana Patekar, John Abraham, Sameera Reddy, Sonali Kulkarni and Shivaji Satam, there are hopes of a decent entertainer in hand. Also Vishal-Shekhar’s names on the credits as composers further escalates the interest quotient due to their consistent delivery of movie soundtracks over the years.

After three blockbusters in a row, Abhishek bachchan is in full demand. Ofcourse he is no where close to his father but he has proved himself the hardway. Unlike other star sons of star fathers, Abhishek wasn’t compared with an actor from the past. He was compared with his father who is still acting and still earning credits on major hits such as Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, Baghban, Bunty or Bubli. etc. Abhishek was compared with a man who has nearly four decades of a career as a movie actor in the Indian Film industry, a man loved by millions all over the world. It was very difficult for Abhishek to prove his talent.

The Business Standard website recently ran a poll to figure out how much Abhishek worth. They actually asked the visitors to share their views on the topic that whether Abhishek is anywhere close to Big Bachchan or not. Though the poll results clearly state that Abhishek needs atleast a decade or so, even to be compared with his father. But, the poll results also show that Abhishek’s popularity, audience and critic belief in his talent and the charisma associated with his last name has increased significantly. He has movies like Dhoom 2, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna and Umrao Jaan under progress. There had been rumors that he is dating Aishwarya Rai. His father’s illness and speculations that may be he would host his father’s show Kaun Banega Crorpati all earned him great popularity among masses.

Abhishek doesn’t have a body like Hrithik, Salman or John Abraham. He doesn’t go shirtless on the beach (yes I regularly search around for his sexy shirtless pictures), even the kissing and smooching scenes with Antara Mali in Naach didn’t earn him the sensational flare that Emraan Hashmi and Fardeen earned by kissing Malika and Kareena. He has something much better, he has the real acting talent to offer and he is slowly winning the hearts of Bollywood fans by his performance.

Celina Jaitley is a super girl. She is not afraid of wearing Bikinis, she is not afraid of dancing naked and she is not afraid of some stupid little airport Manager. A complain against Celina, the poor little girl with big boobs, has been filed at a local police station. Apparently Celina Jaitley has been accused of abusing airport Staff.

Celina parked her car in parking space reserved for VVIP Government officers, The Prime Minister, chief Minister and other politicians. Most of them are not even half as bold as Celina and none of them is as sexy, sensational and pert as Celina. But airport staff failed to notice the sexiness of Celina, perhaps because it was the first time they were seeing Celina in real life? Or perhaps they didn’t recognize her in clothes, as they are used to watching her in little or no clothes.

Preity Zinta talked about her role in Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna during an interview. Associated Press reports that Preity Zinta talked about how much she is sick of her bubbly image and how she is hoping to get a new image in Indian cinema by her role in the upcoming movie Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna. She told, “I am playing the role of a very ambitious magazine editor.”

Preity has great movies on her credit, such as Kya Kehna in which she played the role of an unwed mother and Salam Namaste in which she played the role of a girl who defied her family and moved in with her boyfriend before getting married. Indian society consider these things taboo. Still Preity has an image of a bubbly, joyful, young and cute actress. She is cute, there is no doubt about it but she thinks that the image has stuck with her and she wants to get mature and difficult roles. Despite the cute image she has gained Preity has had her fair share of trouble in life. She was a witness in trial of a movie financier, Bharat Shah, who was suspected to had links with Mumbai’s underworld mafia. Priety testified about threats she had received from a gangster thought to be tied to Shah. Preity faced another life threatening situation during the 2004 tsunami. She was in Thailand on vacations with friends when tsunami hit the region. None of her friends survived but some how she managed to run away and survived.

Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna is the most awaited Bollywood movie at this time. Not only Preity but the entire cast of the movie is looking forward for its release. So far every involved with this project hasn’t given any details about the movie except that it is about relationships and marriages not being as perfect as they appear.

The sole purpose of writing this post is to talk about the upcoming Dhoom sequel, Dhoom II. The movie’s sequel has Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai, with another new addition Bipasha Basu in the cast. Esha Deol is out even though the first movie was a hit and Esha’s dance number attracted many people. Hrithik is playing the role of bad guy for the first time and Aishwarya Rai will be wearing Bikinis. I think Bipasha will also provide the masala by wearing Bikinis and most probably a few scenes on the bed with John Abraham and kissing scenes.

To add more sensation in an already so hot and spicy recipe, this movie would have no bikes but something larger than bikes.

Pritam is going to provide music for the movie and if they are bringing things bigger than bikes then fans are already expecting even greater, dancy, high spirited music than the first part. The movie was expected to be released in April but shooting delayed due to the flood in Mumbai which destroyed a magnificently erected set for the movie. Later Aishwarya asked producer Aditya Chopra to delay the shooting for two more months as she wanted to loose some weight which she gained for Bride and Prejudice.
