Indian Air Force Objects Movie
I previously heard that a pre release show of the movie Rang De Basanti was arranged for Indian Air Force. According to the Director Rakesh Mehra, IAF had no objections on the movie and they didn’t request any changes in the movie. But it is now confirmed that Indian Airforce had problem with the movie.
- The story of this movie revolves around a group of friends. One of them is a pilot for Indian Air Force and loses his life in a MIG crash. The movie is dedicated to “dead MIG pilots.” The Indian Airforce wanted this dedication to “all pilots who have laid down lives”. The producers have already agreed to delete the dedication.
- The movie shows Defence Minister attributing the death of the pilot to human error. Indian Army officials want this character to be referred as minister and not Defence Minister.
- Indian Air Force officials wanted a chart to be displayed at the end of the movie, which states that there is a 50% drop in crashes.
- They do not want the events to be dated to 2002 as it refers to the tenure of George Fernandes.
